I received my headjoint today and wanted to let you know how wonderful it is!.. I had a ball!..sounded like I was at Carnegie Hall…The headjoint fits perfectly(what’s new?), looks beautiful, feels soft and smooth as a baby’s ass, and has a rich musk/oil smell to it.  I can jump octaves more easily/smoothly.  The C-sharps, trill keys and third register notes are softer/less sharp.  My vibrato is more dominant/controllable…I can play very, very quietly, yet crystal clear, and fade to zero.  The note to note changes are smoother/less noticeable.

I want you to know how much I value this headjoint.  I can play pieces that I could not before…I would never perform the Handel Arrival of the Queen of Sheba…because the articulation wasn’t adequate.  I couldn’t get it clear and light enough.  Now, with the gold, and the platinum reed…I’ve put it in a program…along with the Bach Siciliano, Griegs’ Morning, and Mozart’s Adagio Religioso.  I would never have played that Grieg in public before, either, because it has to sound effortless and flow like silk to be worth hearing.  The gold tone added what I wanted to it; and the wooden headjoint is perfect for the moodiness of the Siciliano.  I’m a very satisfied customer.  Even when I know I’ve played poorly, people rave over my beautiful tone.  I don’t tell them it’s the headjoint.

I’ve been wanting to drop you a note for sometime to let you know how well I’m getting along with the new headjoint that I bought from you last fall…After working with it for a month I gave a recital…I could play with a fullness of sound…that was new to me.  I kept having to ask my accompanist to play louder in the fiery variations without danger of being covered, which was a new feeling for me.  I have found it to be very diverse in its range of dynamics, from very soft to very loud, low or high, and the pitch at all extremes seems to stay right where I want it.  I then did a…run that was much less taxing than in previous years, followed by a stint in the orchestra for a week, where again I felt the ease of the pitch in both soft playing and the loud.  And through it all I very much enjoy the singing quality that I can produce with it.  So I am very much appreciating your craft, and feel a freshness in all of the old excerpts and pieces that I play on it.

Four days ago I received my new headjoint. Today I play the headjoint I must say that most of my wishes already came true. I can play more in tune, louder if I wish to, and more evenly. The headjoint reacts wonderfully to breath/tongue attacks. Thumbs up to your Air-reed technology! It seems to have many possibilities in coloring the sound. Sorry it has taken me so long to write. I love my new headjoint. I received it two weeks ago. That weekend, I played three long gigs, about 10 hours total. I was amazed at how little I had to work to produce a clear, resonant, rich sound. The response is immediate and the color is nice and dark like I like it. The fast passages sort of fly out of the flute - it kind of plays itself. I was going to work on opening up my sound a bit, but now I feel like I can relax and let it open itself instead of me putting so much effort into it - that's probably how it had gotten tight in the first place!
